the 330 Clothing Swap

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

For the past several months, Lyndsey, Rachel, Jessie and I have been planning our very first large scale clothing swap. It was a lot more work than I had anticipated, but it was definitely worth it. We had local vendors, local and nationwide sponsors, over ten raffles, and a beautiful venue to host all of it in.

We capped the event off at slightly over 80 guests. We personally sorted through every item, decided if it should be donated or swapped, and gave it a point value. It took us a little over a month to sort through all the clothes and organize by point value and size. Next time, there will be a donation limit. We also partnered up with Goodwill of Greater Akron. Goodwill provided us with discounts for guests & amazing reusable bags for the swapping. In addition, they picked up all of the left overs and donated them to Goodwill. Goodwill is one of my favorite thrift stores and I'm so glad we were able to donate to those in need. Before and after the event put us at over twenty bags of donations. Amazing!

The guests were wonderful, gracious, and left stoked about their purchases. I'm 100% proud of all of the hard work, energy, time, planning, and everything else it took to put this together. It was truly an incredible first experience and a wonderful event. I sure hope we throw another one or that someone steals our idea so I can attend.

Thanks once again to everyone that attended and made it possible, the vendors, the sponsors, and the other ladies that helped make this a hit.
