This dress is the only thing I asked for on Christmas and I was thrilled that my mom got it. I saw it at a local boutique and I could not stop thinking about it. The price was a bit more than I like spending on a dress, so serious props to my mom for being really awesome. This dress is truly stunning. It's basically everything I want in a dress: peter pan collar, lace, floral, poofy skirt. Getting into black dresses is very different for me. This is only the third black dress I own. Solid black dresses are the opposite of my style, but I'm really into it. The local PacSun is closing and I got these amazing Kirra booties for $17. They retail for $50 and all the other PacSun's are still selling them for that price. What a steal!
On Friday, I'll be heading to Cleveland to participate in a really wonderful event presented by the Cleveland Museum of Art. The event is called "Project Tunic" and it's equal parts a wearable art show and a runway show. I'm a judge alongside Valerie of Yellowcake (she was on Project Runway), an art curator, and a textile professor. The runway show features local designers that submitted their work based off their designs inspired by the Wari's and modern culture. The Wari time refers to the unknown pre-Inca civilization in Peru, dated 600-1000. Which sounds incredibly interesting! From what I've heard, there's even a first grader and her mom included.
It's a whole wonderful event and I'm so pleased to have been invited. It's a little nerve racking to think my opinion will help shape someone's design future! It's a complete honor and a wonderful way to kick off the New Year. I'll be bringing my boyfriend along so he can snap plenty of photos during the event for me to share with you all.
