This May, myself and a handful of local(ish) bloggers will be partnering with Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland to put on a runway show. The idea is for each of us to design a collection of 8-10 looks purchased entirely at Goodwill for $125 or less.
I am a huge supporter of Goodwill as well as thrifting in general, so I'm really excited for the show. The runway show will take place on the first Thursday in May at Cleveland's Window on the River. I've never been there, but the pictures are beautiful.
I will be choosing the music for the models to walk to, introducing myself, giving direction on the hair/make-up (which is provided by Brown Aveda) and I'll be styling the models completely. I chose to keep the concept behind my collection very simple. The theme I picked is simply the color pink. It's quite difficult to go with an elaborate theme from Goodwill so I picked something very me and simple. We can only shop at locations in Cleveland/Canton and neither of those are that close to me, so I'm really happy with the ease and room my theme has provided me.
Rachel and I got together to do a brief little photo shoot to share tidbits of our collections. She shared hers on her blog and I have three looks to share with you today. I still need to do some more shopping and fine tuning.

I hope you all enjoyed this sneak peak and I'll be sharing more along the way!
Note: I am doing this event on behalf of Goodwill. I am not able to collaborate with any stylist (I am the stylist) to make this event come to life. If you are local and have a blog, there's always a chance you will be asked to participate next year. I am not the person to contact to be apart of this event. Sorry & thank you!

ReplyDeleteThat's a really cool opportunity. It sounds a lot of fun. I'd be really excited and terribly nervous about it, but from the look it is going to be awesome. I like the pink skirt in the last picture. Looking forward to more sneaky bits.

Oh, what an exciting project! How fun to see everything as it comes together more too. I'm already really loving these looks- especially the second one.
ReplyDeletePS Just so you are aware, when I clicked the link to go to Rachel's site, it took me to forthebirdsblog.com (to a women who is very over blogging). I think Rachel's URL is forthebirdsblog.net. Or at least, that url had a post about this style show too!
