New York

My cousin was in town from Colorado and she wanted to go to New York to check out her friends restaurant. So, obviously, my sister, my boyfriend, and I said yes. Being in Ohio means you're only six hours from NYC and Chicago and y'all know how much I like adventures. The drive wasn't too bad and we got into the city late, but early enough to close out a 4:00 a.m. casino. It was a really fast, whirlwind of a trip -- which is always fun. When I travel, I'm less of a tourist/plans kind of gal. I like to see where I end up, where the wind or the locals take us. Which is great because there was a lot of wind and a very fun and adventurous local to show us the nightlife of Williamsburg.

My brother suggested we go to the Upright Citizen Brigade's Sunday show "ASSSSCAT 3000". We waited in line for two hours and didn't get tickets, but we were in a stand by line. That's crazy, right? Maybe, but we got in! Amy Poehler was performing! Yes, Amy Poehler!! I have a mad crush on her and am obsessed with Parks and Recreation. There were other actors/comedians too and it was brilliant. The guy that plays Jean-Ralphio (Ben Schwartz) on Parks & Rec was there too and he might've been the funniest person. Also Brittany Snow, Nick Kroll, and a few others! The theater is so small and intimate. It was wonderful and hilarious. If you're ever in NYC or LA, GO GO GO! Did I mention it was free?! Seeing Amy so up close and personal was a real treat.

We also ate a lot. Stayed up 'till the sun came out and walked, walked, walked. I have more photos, another outfit, and some breakfasts to talk about.

  5. I've been meaning to see that show! I also love Parks & Rec and think Amy is hilarious. Such a great show. That's awesome that she was performing! :) I like New York for about a day and then I get sick of it. It's just too much for me. I'm definitely a suburb/country kind of gal! haha.

  7. This outfit is just perfect. I love how you just started posing right in Times Square! Sounds like you had such a wonderful time. I am inspired to hit up Upright Citizens Brigade out here in LA, except this time I won't be making a trip to the Museum of Death instead :)

  13. The amount of things I'm jealous about in this post is a little ridiculous. New York, Amy Poehler, Ben Schwartz (even though he'll always be Jean Ralphio), this skirt... I just want to have your life right now. I can't wait to see your other outfit photos from this trip because you look so cute here. And seriously, how amazing is Parks and Rec? And Amy Poehler in general? One of my favorites on TV currently.

And yeah, Portia DiRossi's face DOES look weird. It's really, really obvious that she's wearing a wig in the flashbacks. But isn't Kristen Wigg insanely perfect as young Lucille??

  17. Bah, I love that you're so adventurous! I always have to plan things out when I travel and know specific times for things. I need to be more spontaneous like you! Sounds like such a fun time and seeing comedians live is one of the best things. I love it.
Your hair looks so great with this light blue color, it just pops right off your top and cardigan!
Also-thank you for the SWEETEST comment ever you left the other day! That seriously made my day and I think getting to be a part of Flock Together and collaborate with you gals has really helped my blog out a lot. Thanks again :)
