Cold Water History

It's been really sunny here, so Victor and I were on the hunt for a shady photo location. Which is how we ended up under this dirty little bridge. Bridges and railroad tracks are always interesting photo locations. You know with actual trains and such. Plus they are EVERYWHERE near my house. Is this normal for other places or am I just super lucky to be surrounded by easy photo spots?

With the sun, comes heat (obviously) which basically equates to me throwing on a dress and calling it a day. So, sorry if I become a bit boring over here. But isn't this what dresses were made for?

Last week, I saw an old favorite of mine, Owen. It was beautiful and intimate in a way that only a one man acoustic show can be. Opening the show, was a band from Columbus, Ohio called Saintseneca. I had never heard them prior to the show, but I have not stopped listening since. They are seriously everything I love all rolled up into one well crafted band. I have a feeling these dudes won't go under the radar for ever and you should probably get him already.

Oh, and if you are local and planning on attending the CSS concert this Friday...I'll be around shooting some street style photos for Nylon Magazine. I've never heard of the bands playing, but it should be really fun!

  1. You are lucky! There are tracks by where I live, but they are really hard to get to and hard to find abandoned from an actual train. I love this dress on you Jessica!

  2. There are tracks everywhere where I live in Alabama, & they have always been a favorite of mine for cool photo spots. That & creepy, old, vacant wooden sheds. This dress is so cute!

  4. We have a couple railroad tracks near where I live in Georgia but not too many. There are definitely more near the rural areas though. I love that you take the time to choose awesome photo locations and your dress is cute!

  5. Gorgeous!! I love this dress and the location. The little cutouts are cute too. A very wearable way to do the cutouts trend. I don't think I'm brave enough to do the mid-drift cutout - this is much more my speed! :)

  6. Dresses are never boring, just cute and comfy! Very cute, loving those shoes and that location. The train tracks here have too much sun to photograph in.

I'm totally going to check out some the music! Your Saintseneca link seems to be broken. D:

  10. This location is awesome (we have a ton of train tracks by me but they would definitely NOT be safe to take photos on them!), and you look gorgeous. It's definitely a more simple outfit, but I really love it, especially with those shoes. And your hair looks amazing! Did I miss you putting some red in it?! Am I crazy?

  15. Love the side cutouts of this dress and feel the same way about summer and just throwing one on, basically my life recently. And I think you're lucky, although I'm sure if I really put my mind to it there would be great photo places around Pittsburgh, it's such an interesting city. AND I just started to love Owen, thanks to my music guru...my brother AND I love NYLON and am jealous for you contributing to them. (Was this comment long enough haha!)

  16. Yeah lucky to have to have access to such great shoot spots. Sometimes NY can be pretty challenging to set up blogging shoots. No one has a car, everyone comes from a different direction and take public transit, and it is super crowded. The LA bloggers make life look so easy in LA.

Congrats on shooting for NYLON which issue will the pix be in I will pick it up or will it be online?

  18. I think you're really lucky, it takes me ages to find a new spot to take pictures in my little town (you can notice it's the same park I'm choosing for most of my outfits). Your look is adorable, I love your dress and how great it matches your shoes!

    Have an amazing week,

  19. Ummmm yes you are lucky. Especially where I live now. The photo locations are boooooring! It's always nice to see you in this dress because it's both super cute and BLACK. You in a black dress = rare, but always looks amazing :)

  23. It rocks that you have so many easy photo locations :)

I feel like I haven't seen you in an all-black dress before, but that can't be right, can it? Maybe it is just the pretty color of your hair and the black really setting off your skin tone that makes this seem so extra-special.

  24. If I learned anything from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, it's that bridges are sketchy places...so I love that you take pictures of your pretty outfits under one lol.
