Remixed Style: Dress to Skirt Edition

one | two | three | four

One of the best parts about learning to maximize my wardrobe is getting REALLY creative. Until I started blogging, I probably never would've thought that a dress could also work as a skirt. For the first look, I simply put a t-shirt on top of the dress. Wearing a full on sequin dress is a little hard to pull of and I love the dress so much that I was really excited to create an entirely new day time look for it. For the second look, I had a lot of people ask me how I transformed the dress into a skirt. The simple answer? I zipped the dress to my waist and folded the top portion of the dress underneath. The belt helped cover up the thickness and defined the waist. The poofyness of the skirt hid the top of the dress. Both are pretty simple and fun ways to challenge myself to be different. And yes, I learned this from Elana.

  1. Such a great way to get more milage out of a dress, it definitely works for both of these ones!!! Blogging has definitely made me a more creative dresser thats for sure :)

  2. I always used to feel sure that people could see the strange bums of a folded under dress (though in retrospect, no, they couldn't) and it felt a little off to get used to when sitting, but there is no denying it adds SO MUCH to your wardrobe. Great Remix post.

    1. I think the key is to find the right dress, I've tried it with a lot that do NOT work.

  5. aaah yay, glad to finally hear the secret to the dress as a skirt in the second haha. Good call w/ the big belt to hide the folded-under and I like the simple T over the first dress also. Great ideas and inspiration!

  10. I've tried both of these tricks too! I actually should do it more often because it always feels good to find a new way to wear a dress. Though now that I think about it it only works for certain dresses... Oh well! I think you did a great job remixing both of these dresses. The sequined one is awesome!
