The Rise

lic1

I found this amazing 90's Liz Claiborne top on my thrifting adventure with Lauren. It's definitely not my usual style, but the print was simply too weird (see also: awesome) for me NOT to purchase it. Especially on a 50% off day. I struggle buying shirts because they're so expensive. To me, I could buy two dresses for the price of a top. So, I have a very limited range of shirts, but I've been on a mission to find more.

I have about four hairstyles: high bun, slouchy hat, messy curls, and a beehive. Figured it's about time I showed more than two hairstyles around here. The beehive is one of my favorites and easiest looks to pull off. My hair is surprisingly wonderful at being teased and staying insanely large.

Tonight, Rachel and I are hosting a clothing swap. It's been a few months since I've been to one and I need some new clothes. We had to switch the date and a lot of people now can't come, so we'll see how it turns out, but either way, free and new to me clothes!

  3. You look so posh. Love the beehive and this outfit is killer. I have a hard time buying tops too. They're just not as exciting as skirts and dresses haha.

  4. This top is incredible and I'm so jealous you thrifted it. I have the same problem; I always buy dresses so I'm really limited on tops. And, um, this hairstyle on you. SO CUTE.

Also, wishing I was in your area (always) so I could go to your clothing swap!

  5. i had never noticed you wear your hair the same a lot.. but I always wear mine the same and just someone having it down to me is impressive haha. i LOVE that top, super funky but awesome for sure. it's like the ultimate funky patterned hipster top but you dressed it up w/ the skirt and heels for a non-hipster, super original look. love this! and good luck on the swap, sounds like an awesome thing to organize!

  6. That top is so awesome! I can't resist a weird print either. I would've snatched this up immediately. I'm right there with you about tops too. I've made it a mission to search for more shirts because I'm always drawn to dresses. I want all the dresses! But then I'm left with like 8 shirts to remix with all the billions of skirts I have.
Also, I love your big bouffant here. I always feel so good when I have my hair all big like that. I need to do it more often!

  7. I love that you brought the beehive back! It's one of my favorite hairstyles on you. I think this was a great thrifted find and I'm with you on buying tops, it just doesn't seem practical. Good luck with the swap tonight, I wish I could attend something like that :)

  25. This top is so great and I love how you styled it! I am the EXACT same way about buying tops- I'd much rather be spending money on dresses. I thrift most of my blouses because $5 seems way more reasonable to me ;)
