coma girl

Whenever I do a wardrobe purge and decide to keep certain items, I make a promise to myself that I will in fact wear those almost tossed items. If I don't, they must go. So, that's where this outfit comes from. Shirts with high collars are REALLY challenging for me because I feel like I'm being choked and sleeves? So much material. But between the clothes I almost tossed and the melting of the snow, I figured, I better bust out some real shoes and prance around.

On Friday night, I went and saw Chuck Klosterman speak (again!). Klosterman used to write for my local newspaper and I remember being very young & snatching up the paper just to read his columns. I totally wish at the time I was old enough to hang out in cool places and accidentally run into him or something else creepy. Since then he's written eight books (two fiction) and so so so many articles about absolutely everything. I dig Klosterman because he writes about pop culture and mainstream ideas with a severely personal introspective touch. He's a man of many talents. His lecture was wonderful, hilarious, and spot-on. I left feeling very inspired. Which isn't bad for a Friday night in Akron.

  2. This skirt is goooorgeous, such a pretty piece and it looks lovely with that blouse! I feel the same about sleeves and high necks. I start feeling claustrophobic in my outfit

  3. I love the look of blouses like yours but I have such a hard time styling them as well. I think you did a great job of pulling off a polished look though. Very pretty :) And that writer sounds like a cool guy, how fun that you got to see him speak.

  4. That is a good goal for sure! I personally LOVE this outfit. I think the top is really cute but I totally understand where you stand with the collars. I can't stand feeling choked all day. And how cool that you got to hear someone speak that you are so inspired by!

  6. i also feel a bit choked w/ high collars, but this one is so fun and so very "you" i'd say. it's wonderful to hear a blogger talking about purging their closet of things they no longer wear instead of the monster closet stuff. and, how cool you went to that talk! that would be an ideal friday night for me and i had not even heard of that writer before.

  8. Tell me you wore this on Valentine's day. Remember the black and white heart blouse you brought to the swap? I wore it on Valentine's and almost popped a button because I'm growing daily.. haha. I love it though! Love the color of this blouse.

  13. I adore that blouse! The color, print, and details are all so lovely. It must have been so fun seeing Chuck Klosterman speak! My high school boyfriend gave me one of his books when I was 16 and I've loved reading his stuff ever since.

  14. This blouse is so pretty. Though I'm not a fan of sleeves and they have to be at a very specific length for me NOT to roll them up. Odd, but I feel your pain about having so much material on the top half of me haha. Glad you had a great time at the lecture, sounds amazing! I'm going to have to get my hands on some of his writing!

  16. Well I'm glad you found a good use out of that blouse! I feel the same way about high collared and sleeves...I have a short upper body so I feel like high collars make me look frumpy.
