Dear Zero

I've had this dress for years. I was so smitten with it when I first found it, but then my style changed a bit or something. It's been one of those items that's been shoved into the depths of my closet, but one that I have never been able to get rid of. Which is great for those days when I cannot for the live of me think of what to wear. To completely contrast with the last post, I experimented with plenty of various colors and I totally dig it. To me, this is the perfect, "c'mon spring, get here" outfit.

This week is my "spring break" and I have no big plans or really plans at all. Which is why yesterday I headed up to Cleveland to see Grand Budapest Hotel at the Cedar Lee. The Cedar Lee is pretty much the only place around here that plays independent films. I'm very thankful for this. And I, like everyone else cool, loves Wes Anderson films. This was probably one of my favorites. Like top three status. My sister and I were starving so we over indulged in popcorn and Dr. Pepper during the movie. Which led us to shake hands on giving up soda because we only ever drink it together and we both hate it. So, baby steps at giving up our addictions. We got a late lunch, some gourmet coffee, and then I drove back to Akron. Basically it was the perfect kind of day. 'Cause sometimes all I need is to get away from Akron.

  3. It sounds like a fabulous day, and I like how you paired this very feminine dress with the more jeweled tone of mustard and turquoise to funk it up a bit. I'd never have thought to pair any of it, yet it all looks so well together!

  4. I think this dress is very pretty. I love the florals and the ruffles. I can see why you could never part with it. I love this pretty and bright look! I think a week break without any concrete plans sounds delightful!

  5. Sounds like a great day! So few places around here are showing this movie, so I might have to wait until it comes out for rent. Wahh. Great "hurry up, spring" outfit. I love yellows and blues together.

  6. I loved the movie too, but duh- how could you not! I love this color combo, blue and green are always my faves. I'm with ya- so many things in my closet that I never wear, yet can't bear to part with just yet...

  7. I haven't seen the movie yet... but it's on my list. I just know I'm going to love it. I hear ya about getting out of "Akron". I perminatly got out of "Ohio" and moved to Austin. Spring is in full motion here and I feel so terrible for people living up north. Hang in there... it will be there soon! Cute outfit btw.... love the fun colors.

  11. I want to see that movie! We have a great independent movie theatre in Athens that I don't go to nearly as often as I should. Maybe they'll be playing it at some point...
But anyway, this outfit is so wonderfully colorful! I love when I find forgotten items in my closet. This dress looks so great on you. The whole color scheme is very spring-y!

  13. How is this dress not in regular rotation? It's so pretty! I love these spring inspired colors on you. I really need to get tights in that color. I can't believe it's been a year since we've seen each other, that makes me sad! Either I need to plan a trip over there or you need to come back here :)

  15. Capitol Theater in Gordon Square is another good one for independent films. Plus you can get Happy Dog afterwards. ;) Love me some Cedar Lee too. I was debating whether to see The Grand Budapest this weekend and you have teetered my indecision towards "hell yes, let's do this."
