OOTD; Breathing divine winds

I'm not much of a summer person and by much, I mean, I despise anything over 70 degrees. Which is why I've been very pleased with some of our chillier, windy, rainy days. This dress from Lisa is absolutely perfect. It's so comfortable even if at a distance it might look like I'm naked underneath. Whatever. I'm also wearing it backwards because it has a peephole cut out in the (technical) front. It was a little bit risque for me.

I go through spurts of reading too much and not reading enough. It's hard to balance all the things I need and want to do in a day. However, I'm back on my reading game. What are some of your favorites? I'm mostly a non-fiction girl, but I love just about any genre. Except maybe Twilight (that's a genre to me) and crime fiction (unless it's really good). When it comes to books, I'm really all over the place, so suggest away.

Outfit Details:
Dress: Borrowed from Lisa
Tights: American Apparel
Shoes: Target
Belt: Forever 21

  1. Oooh I love Lisa's dress on you (and I always like to see people remix dresses backwards)! Love the hot pink and teal accents, too. I mostly get into autobiographies/memoirs these days, haha. I really need to get back in the reading game, too.

  2. I don't read as much nonfiction as I should! I am having a summer of interesting fantasy books, so far all very well written. I am reading the Practical Woman's Guide to Real Magic, interesting fantasy, and I am hoping to read things for work that will be inspiring but so far I am to lazy/busy. Lovely dress!

  3. I like this a lot though now I'm wondering what the back/front looks like too! Still, I like the classy feeling of the boatneck you've given it by getting creative.

I like to listen to nonfiction as an audio book. Recent ones I've enjoyed are History of the World in Six Glasses (a lightly written history, but interesting), and a bio of Gertrude Bell called Desert Queen. I'd vaguely known who she was and that she'd helped Lawrence of Arabia, but she's very fascinating in her own right. If you like history or bios Into Africa: The Epic Adventures of Livingston and Stanley was unexpectedly really riveting too!

  4. I love the pink tights, your outfit photos always inspire me to be more risqué with tights (aka not just black). I also find myself totally bipolar with reading, I love to do it but its usually unfortunately on the back burner of things. Like I got through ah I just read two books in four days or wow I haven't read anything in a month…. which is so sad because technically I have the time because Im just waiting for grad school to start in the fall but somehow something always takes priority like cleaning the apartment or this or that. I highly suggest The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, A Vintage Affair and The Night Circus

  5. gorgeous look - loving the contrast of your platinum hair with the black dress

  6. I am loving your hair so much! Love how you styled this with the bright colors, so crazy to think of it being chilly in your neck of the woods :) I always forget to try a dress backwards- so excited to try your styling tip! Looks good!

  7. I'm not a summer person either. I feel you. It's too damn hot in Georgia, for real.

Anyway, I love that you're able to wear tights in the summer. These pink ones are so cool with the black lace. Black and pink forever!

As for books... I love so many different genres. I always recommend The Book Thief. I just finished reading Pride and Prejudice finally and it was actually pretty entertaining. Check out The Walking Dead compendiums if you're into zombies. Do you have a Goodreads account? Because Goodreads is so great at giving book recommendations.

  8. I hate anything over 70 degrees too! And living in SoCal, it is above 70 degrees for most of the year (I need to move). Anyways.. you look so gorgeous in this dress :)

I love reading non-fiction too. I would definitely recommend My Life in France by Julia Child and I also really love Valley of the Dolls.

  9. I'm trying to get back into reading too, so honestly I'll probably be reading the comments here for suggestions for myself. Haha, I just got done reading The Fault In Our Stars, and that was a tearjerker like everyone said it'd be. :P
Anyway, love this lacy black dress and the maroon and mint pairing!

  10. I love how you wore this backwards! I'm envious that you can still wear tights. I'm sweating in just a dress over here! I'm ashamed to say that the only books I've read this past year are baby books. I'm officially LAME.

P.S. I love the comment you left on my post. Fun fact: My mother also had a small day care in our home. Would you say that's a coincidence? Haha!

  11. I didn't even think it looked like that until you mentioned it! Now I'm curious as to what the other side looks like. I feel weird wearing anything with cut outs in the top.

Your hair is just so awesome.

  12. Love everything about this outfit, so pretty! I just wish for a close-up of the headband! :)

    1. Just your average craft store jewels super glued to a black band.

  13. Such a beautiful dress and I adore the colour combination.

  14. Looks amazing! I just love your haircut... can't get over it!

  15. Oh now I have to go look at Lisa's post again to see what this dress looks like forward. I'm impressed how well it fits you backwards though, i'd never have guessed. i love it w/ the pink tights and that dainty little headband. i'm not much of a summer person either, but then again summer is unbearable in these parts and I probably find 70 slightly chilly at this point.
