OOTD; diamond eyes

I've rarely had the luxury of long or multiple vacations. But I do live for those brief weekends, more than an hour driving, some sort of adventure, and a few days off work. It's been a long while since I had a reason to escape daily life, so when my Dad invited me to join him on his adventures to Southern Ohio/West Virgina for his second Tough Mudder, I quickly obliged. If you aren't familiar, Tough Mudder is absolute insanity. It's 10+ miles of running and over twenty obstacles. It's the definition of physical fitness and mental determination. As a spectator, you get the opportunity to walk the course and see some of the obstacles and it's pretty crazy out there! My Dad did this Mudder solo -- which is pretty gnarly. Even more gnarly? He finished in less than 2 1/2 hours. His dedication and interest in fitness is very admirable and inspiring. (I type as I eat pizza rolls...)

Plus I got to spend the weekend in West Virgina, lounging around, sight seeing, eating delicious vegetarian food, sippin' on coffees, doing nothin' I had to, and spending quality time with family.

Oh, and I wore this dress one day. It's such a great one, but being so over-the-top pink I've struggled with wearing it often. Like, is it okay to be that pink on a daily basis? Maybe. But sometimes I like to scale it back.

  2. OMG I hate blogger via iPhone! Another lengthy comment gobbled up and gone forever :(. Anyway, congrats to your dad, that's so cool! It's also nice that you had a few days off. You surely deserve it!

Other than your pink tulle dress this is one of my favorites in your closet. It really personifies you and fits you like a glove. Wear pink as much as you want girl, you always look beautiful in it!

  4. Man, that sounds tough. Good for your dad, very impressive! And amazing dress, the notice-me-pink is perfect for a bright summer's day. The polka dots just make it all the more spectacular!

  5. Tough Mudders are so nuts. I've never done one myself (and don't have a particular interest in doing one because running is hard), but a few of my friends have. They both loved the experience and were utterly wrecked at the end of it. Kudos to your dad for pushing through.
Love the dress, that hot pink is perfect for the tail end of summer. That flower crown is really pretty, I'll have to check out Claire's to see if they've got anything I want. I don't think I've been in there since high school, I wouldn't have thought to look there.
    Cheers!

  7. It always impresses me the amount of physical abuse a person will go through to compete and finish in Tough Mudder. Not my cup of tea. I hear you get electrocuted at some point during, is that true? D:

That's such a super bright dress! It's definitely ok to wear that much pink as often as you like, but you can always scale it down with a buttoned up cardigan and stuff like that for days you don't want *quite* so much pink, haha.

  11. Who knew Claires did nice accessories still - I must check them out, that's a lovely flower crown. Also a very pretty dress, I think it's fine to wear lots of pink when it's so flattering! CC

  13. I always admire those with such dedication to fitness and extreme challenges- that does not run in my family. You look darling- this dress fits you perfectly. I bet it was a stark contrast to all the workout clothes walking around that weekend :)
