OOTD; Where we escape

We are officially into the hottest days of the year. I am a hot mess of humidity waved hair, melting make-up, and consistent whining. When I get warm, I cannot cool down which is why I can't function in 80+ degree weather. Which is exactly what's happening in these photos. Me, sweating to death. But I'm so smooth, you (hopefully) didn't notice.

I received a ModCloth gift card for my birthday and I had been eying this dress for awhile because a) it glows in the dark b) it's covered in skulls and my family is really into skulls. So, it made sense. I personally would never spend $90 of my own money on a dress, but sometimes you can treat yo' self. This was also the last one in my size, so I believe that's the definition of fate.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes! I had a pretty good day. It was filled with rain, parking tickets (who knew you were supposed to have a front license plate?), misplaced anger, and self-reflection. Ah, the sweet joys of growing up.

  6. I almost got a ticket in Ohio once for not having a front plate but caught the officer as it was happening and (nicely) explained that I'm from PA and they let me go. Helped to have a PA ID and plate haha I love this dress and have been looking for a skull dress to wear to a friend's wedding coming up, hopefully ModCloth has this baby in my size!

  7. I find it so interesting to find out these small details about bloggers like the fact your family are all interested in skulls like that. This is a super fun dress and very flattering on you.

Sorry the birthday had some stressful parts to it though...

  11. I couldn't see myself spending that much on a dress either, but whenever I get gift cards and such that's when I buy all the expensive stuff :D You look great, and glad you had a good birthday :)

  12. I'm so behind on commenting on blogs, but I promise I've still been reading! This dress is seriously the best. It was made for you. And it glows in the dark? Come on. It's too perfect. And glad you had a good birthday for the most part. As long as you had good food, that's really all that matters. Am I right?

  15. Wow- what an amazing dress! Bday gift cards are definitely for those purchases you can't normally justify- and a glow in the dark dress was the perfect choice. It's funny how laws like front plates vary from state to state. Ugh annoying tickets!
