Old Love in Young Bodies

This outfit was almost entirely thrifted and that makes me so happy! Earlier this summer, I had a free day and decided to hit up the local thrift store with an interesting technique. My method was "only shop in the juniors section," and it paid off. I scored so many amazing pieces in that thirty minute trip than I usually do. I'm not that into shopping, but I love to thrift because it is so incredibly rewarding. It takes skill, determination, and creativity, but when it works out it's so worth it.

These photos were taken right after I got my hair cut, colored, and styled. Which is why it looks exceptional. I have a great hairstylist who deals with my, "I don't care" attitude. I know what I don't like, but I also don't know exactly what I like when it comes to hair. She nailed it on the perfect shade of white blonde. Plus, she is a master at styling my hair to be very big, messy, and crazy. I tried to memorize her technique, but let's be honest, I am lousy with a blow dryer.

Outfit Details:
Top/Belt/Skirt: Thrifted
Shoes: Modcloth (gift from Emily)
Jacket: Swapped
Tights: American Apparel

  1. You look amazing, and your hair looks incredible. I can just never blow-dry my hair the way they do at a salon! It's some kind of hairdresser magic.

  3. Ha, I do the same with shops! I know I can get away with wearing aged 12-13 (or older) clothes and they are a bit cheaper! I thrifted a lovely Ted Baker junior black skirt I wore for ages, just about to get rid of it sadly!
You look really prettty and you scored great items. Plus, yes yes yes, this hair really suits you!! You look like Tinkerbell! So cute!x

  5. This is so good. Even better that it's thrifted! You hair does look awesome and that color is so great! I'm always amazed by people that have good at-home blow dryer skills- my bangs never look as good as the day I leave the salon from a trim.

  6. I love the colors of this outfit, and I love your hair! I never really use blowdryers. My hair never comes out right! I usually just straighten it, curl it, or let it air dry.

  8. Awesome thrifted outfit! You're right, it is a bit of challenge to second-shop, but again, it can be so rewarding with the amazing finds. You're smart to think of the junior section (I keep reading that the boys' section is great for blazers) I'll have to check that out!

And your hair looks great! I love how fun yet sophisticated your hairstyle looks. Whenever I see your pictures I find myself thinking of pixie cuts and wanting to cut my own hair.

  9. Thats so great that you're so open to haircuts. I mean you know what you don't like but other then that you seem fairly easy to please. I bet your hairdresser loves working with you! I also love thrifting but I can get how it can be very draining since it can take so much to peruse the rows and rows of clothes. I actually don't think Ive come across a thrift store yet that is divided into teen and womens always only womens and children! But that is a good tip to use!

  10. I was just thinking how much I was digging your hair when lo and behold- you got your hair done! Looks great, as does that shade of red on you.

  11. Your hair looks AMAZING and I share your thoughts in thrifting! When it's good, it's soooo good. I couldn't really venture into juniors section territory I don't think, but it's an interesting approach! Love this pretty skirt! Great find!

  12. Dude, hair never looks as amazing as it does every time someone leaves the hair dresser. Makes me want to invest in a live-in hair dressed. Just sayin'.

    You're killing it.

  15. So many lovely thrifted items, especially that skirt! I haven't been very lucky in my thrifting adventures lately. I love the way my hair looks/feels after being done at the salon, and I can never get it quite so effortlessly awesome as they do.

  16. Yup, your hairstylist is an absolute gem. LOVE how your hair turned out, and she got the white blonde shade just right.
Great skirt, the lacy texture makes the rich red hue all the more romantic!

  17. As soon as I saw this picture I was like 'wow, her hair looks amazing'. So yes, your stylist is awesome, and so are you because you are all queen of cool here. ;D

I find that boys clothes in the kids section can occasionally work as they're a little oversized, but increasingly less.

Also, I know you like Orphan Black so I wanted to mention that I made Orphan Black Lego figures in my latest blog post. So much fun! :)

  19. Congrats on an entirely thrifted outfit! I know it's a difficult feat. And I don't know what it is, maybe the color scheme and detailing, but there's something very victorian looking about this outfit.
