Slow Come On

This weekend is our semi-annual clothing swap and I'm thrilled to yet again weed out my closet. As a style blogger, I find it hard to balance out my wardrobe. I don't have a lot of space, I change my mind often, and I feel like I have to keep it fresh for the blog. But I also never ever want to feel pressured to dress in a certain way just for blog content nor do I want to become stagnant. It's a challenge to balance out what I wear seven days a week vs. the few outfits I share on here. These swaps, however, definitely help me refresh my wardrobe without spending a dime. With all that said, you've seen every item I am wearing with the exception of this shirt before. Some pieces are meant to stand the test of time and for me, these pieces definitely do.

I own tons of band t-shirts, but this is definitely one of the best that I've owned. It's the most comfortable shirt in the world. There's a good chance I might never take it off.

Outfit Details:
Shirt: American Football show Champaign, IL
Skirt: Forever 21 in NYC
Tights: American Apparel
Jacket: BB Dakota
Boots: Target
Belt: Thrifted

  1. Yes! I love this so much! I love the edgy look of the t & jacket and then the fun burst of color. I really need to find a swap around here- they always look so fun when you post about them. I've always been really fickle with my wardrobe, so constantly thrifting is a way I can buy a ton of things and maybe only wear them a couple times without feeling guilty.

  2. I love pairing band tees with skirts. You pull it off exceptionally well! That skirt is just gorgeous.

My style and taste in clothing is constantly changing, so I definitely relate. Organizing swaps is such a great idea to find new pieces without draining the bank account.

  3. My absolute hands down favorite show here is the Goodwill clothing swap and fashion show. I love clothing swaps. It is awesome to get new "free" clothes and to see someone really get excited about a piece you haven't even looked at in months. Love this band tee/leather jacket/colorful skirt combo!

  5. Oh I wish I could go to that swap! My poor little ol' closet pretty much looks the same as it did when I first started my blog! I definitely am in need of some new pieces. My day-to-day outfits are not exactly blog worthy anymore. :(

I love that skirt - it looks so great paired with the black/edgy vibe! Perfect!

  7. This look is totally fantastic!

And thank you for sharing a little about the balance of what-I-actually-wear + what-I-post and the pressure to post new, new, new all the time! I am really only starting to appreciate that now that I've been blogging my outfits for several years.

  11. I like this as a pop of color amidst the black.

There is a lot of that need to balance what I wear vs. what I post in my life too sometimes. A swap does seem a great way to keep things fresh.

  12. Loving the blend of girly and edgy - it's something I never feel I can do right, but you seem to effortlessly! I definitely feel there's a pressure to keep my wardrobe new... And I don't know of any clothes swaps where I live! Mind you, I have a feeling I'd find it hard to give anything away...

  13. This outfit is the perfect blend of rocker chick and girly girl, and it really looks awesome on you. I feel like everyone should have a cool leather jacket, no matter what their style is, just because it goes with anything. Also, your eyes really pop in these pictures.

  18. So late seeing this post but I absolutely love this outfit so I had to tell you! I love that you style your band t-shirts in fun ways too. They're a great wardrobe staple. I definitely feel you with the lack of space but wanting enough clothing options to keep things interesting. My wardrobe is pretty out of hand. I'm going to need to get rid of some stuff soon...
