Kids on the Boardwalk

This dress was an early Christmas present from my sister, Nicole. Mostly early because she's bad at keeping secrets. I'm okay with that because I never say no to dresses. I like when my sisters buy me clothes because they are never anything that I would pick out for myself and that's always fun. This one has a way longer hemline than I ever gravitate towards. Which makes it all the more fun to style.

Today is election day. Yeah, it's just a local election, but I love democracy! I'm not one to generally discuss politics, but I do find it important that each and every one of us does our part by voting. So, educate yourself, and get out there and vote. It's really important.

Outfit Details:
Dress: ModCloth, gift
Shoes: Urban Outfitters, Gabriel Brothers
Cardigan: Anthropolgie, given to me

  1. Indeed! Vote! I love this dress! The stripes are great with the mint. I always love getting clothes from people that know me. So fun!

  4. Oh but this looks so good on you! It's so chic - and kept fun with the cardi! I love the slight diversion from normal. And completely agree with you on voting - especially as women, it's our right and we should exercise it! CC x

  8. That dress is awesome! I especially like the converging stripes at the neckline. A little bit preppy, a little bit whimsical, a little bit psychedelic - excellent.

I'm so glad to hear you're an enthusiastic voter! I voted absentee last week in my home state of Massachusetts, and I pestered voters via phone today to get them to the polls. I kind of wish people who are qualified to vote but don't because they just don't feel like it had to pay a fine. Maybe that's my election day frustration talking...

  9. That cardigan is SO good- but that's to be expected with anything Anthro. This is a different style dress for you and it looks so good. It's fun having people give you things that you wouldn't normally buy- a good way to try something new! And yay for voting, although the local results are almost always a bummer to me I still feel empowered by it every election.

  10. Good job Nicole! I wish my sister knew how to pick stuff out for me. She'd probably just buy me yoga pants. It's about time we see that cardigan again, it was one of my favorites!

Don't hate me, but I don't vote. Ever. Actually, I never have. It's not that I'm opposed to it in any way, but living in a blue state and being okay with that just makes me think it's easier to stay home and not voice my opinion. I TOTALLY understand why it's important for you, miss swing state, but I guess I see it differently as a Californian.

  13. Ah that dress is lovely. I actually am drawn to the longer hem line! Plus with that sweater it really has a vintage vibe. You're so right voting is so important even in local elections, its still has an impact on the country. Also this is so early for a christmas gift your sister reallllly must be bad at secrets haha

  15. I've got to agree, it's fun receiving clothing from someone else. When they say "I saw this and thought of you," I really get intrigued to see what reminded them of me. It's usually spot on too!

  18. That dress looks great and yay for early presents. I think voting is important but I didn't this time. I didn't feel informed about either of my candidates and felt an uninformed vote was worse than not voting.

  20. This striped dress is so cute on you! I think this hemline looks great on you too. I always enjoy getting clothes/accessories from my sister and mom because they get my style but it's not always things I'd buy myself. You're right that it makes it fun to style those pieces!
