tell me about evil

More often than not, I am uninspired by my wardrobe. It's not that I don't have great clothes or the ability to wear them in different ways. It's a combination of my room being a disaster and falling back on old daily favorites. I've been really trying to push myself to think beyond my standard outfit (skirt + band tee + colorful tights + boots) and that's how this outfit was born. Polka dots are a classically universal print and I always wish that I could dress in that super sleek Blair Waldorf style of class. That's just not what (generally) works for my body or my lifestyle. But it sure is fun to pretend. This outfit is my version of that. It's one of my favorite looks.

This pin is from Aurora. She's super inspiring and I couldn't resist a Saint Mary-Kate pin. 'Cause who doesn't worship the Olsen's?

  1. I love that you mixed the polka dot skirt and top- I totally thought it was a dress! I go in waves of feeling inspired, lately I've been in the mode of grabbing what's on the floor and wearing it again. I'm trying to get out of that rut! :)

  4. Polka dots are great! I also wore a polka dot dress today with a sweater over the top (blogging it tomorrow!) and I like the combo.

  8. This looks really cute! I love the way the polka dots peek through the knit of the sweater a little bit, and I like that you cuffed the shirt over the sweater. Little details like that do so much for an outfit.
I was in a serious rut for a while with finding outfits because I have to get up so early for work, and now it's dark out when I'm trying to get ready, and ugh. I started picking out my clothes before I go to bed so everything is ready to go, it's really helping.

  9. I get stuck and stick with a few of my favorite outfits. I have a closet full of clothes, I need to wear other things.
As always you look adorable!! You have such great taste!

  10. Falling back on old daily favorites sounds like how I dress during college. I really understand those feels, but it's no worry. Sometimes you get to rearranging your closet and finding fun new combinations. This outfit is seriously the cutest, and I love how well you match your backdrop. The colors are so subdued but bold!

  12. The layering here is super cute and I love your white polka dot dress. I feel you with the room disaster making it difficult to get inspired by your wardrobe. I just don't have room for my stuff since moving back home!

  15. It's so weird you bring this topic up because I've felt like I've been leaning on my black clothes too much and was thinking of banning them/hiding them from myself just to snap myself out of the rut.

It's pretty cool you had these different dotted garments in your wardrobe and they match up so perfectly. I really thought you were wearing a dress until I read your outfit details!
