Nausea

While it might seem like a surprise, I don't actually like to shop. Whether it be for clothes or food or makeup -- I'm just not that into it. Stores give me anxiety and options overwhelm me. I have a pretty strange body type (aka under five-feet-tall, short torso, chest bigger than the A-cup standard of small sizes) which makes online shopping very hit-or-miss for me. I like to touch fabrics, try things on, and not pay full price. These are the main reasons why I don't often shop or have new clothes. That and I'm incredibly particular. Sometimes though you end up in a store that you don't intend on being in and you find a gem that fits like a dream. That's this dress. Perfect color, perfect fit, perfect print. Thankfully for my wardrobe, I've started online swapping again. Ah! It feels good to be getting out of the winter funk/style rut.

I wore this dress to see Jeff Rosenstock and Andrew Jackson Jihad. I've seen Jeff in all his previous efforts (ASOB & BTMI!) and it was so great to see his solo band. This was the first time I've ever seen AJJ and honestly, I was kind of terrified. They have the kind of music that attracts the worst kind of fans. The kind that want to fight, be unnecessarily rowdy, and make it hard to enjoy the show. The band, however, made a little speech about how uncool it is for violence. The importance of being kind to those around you and how they would NOT stand for any of that nonsense. After that the crowd chilled out and the fun started. They were seriously so wonderful. Nothin' beats feeling safe at a show and you'd be surprised at how often that's simply not the case.

  2. Love this dress! The whole outfit is spot on! I agree, it's hard for shorter people to shop.... I have a thicker mid section with small ass shoulders which makes it really hard to find clothes that fit my waist that aren't huge on my shoulder/cheast area. Ugh.... the woes of it all. It is really great to find something that not only fits right and flatters. Yay!

  3. Well I can certainly appreciate the anxiety with shopping although I personally love shopping. It has become more of a challenge as my body is constantly (still) changing over the past two years from being pregnant and then not being pregnant. I love this dress on you though. Looks great with the leather jacket!

  4. I love this look! I love when floral is styled sort of grunge-y. :) AJJ is pretty awesome. I really like his music. I have only been to one of his shows. He is one of my boyfriend's favorites, so I bought him tickets one year as a surprise gift. We were kind of on the outskirts, so I don't remember too much rowdiness, though I know exactly what kinds of people you mean.

  5. You look amazing! [insert cat with heart eyes emoji]

Also, violence at shows is obnoxious - can't we all just get along and jam out to our favorite artists in peace?

  6. Hmmm- shopping definitely can feel overwhelming with all the choice. I like the idea of it, but in reality usually burn out very quick from too much choice (and/or the pressure to find that Thing You Were Looking For).

However, I love this dress and can see why you do too!

  7. You've basically described my entire attitude towards shopping - it's such a pain when you're not standard sized and I've got the same height and bust issues as you do! This dress is gorgeous though - well done on finding it! Love it with the pink tights and cute bow details you've got going on :) x

  8. You need to make a post featuring all of your tights. I feel like you have the best collection. That, or you just implement them so perfectly into all your outfits!
Love this look girl - florals and leather are the best combo ever.

And wow, glad that band stood up for nonviolence! I know, there was one show I went to where I seriously had to stay alert to make sure I wasn't going to get elbowed in the face throughout the whole set. Ugh. I wanted to enjoy the music but I couldn't relax!
Glad you were able to enjoy your concert!!

  10. I just love the edge you bring to florals & tights! I HATE shopping for anything, except there's something so relaxing about thrifting to me. I've had people tell me their happy place is wandering the aisles at Target and I avoid going there until I have to. And don't even get me started on grocery shopping... ;)

  13. I really enjoy shopping even though I don't have an average body either. Usually I find at least one thing I like! I just enjoy browsing and seeing what's new too. This dress you found looks amazing on you though! Hooray for an awesome find! I love the pink tights with it and your cute headband.
