Women's March on D.C.

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

On Saturday, I participated in the Women's March in Washington. The purpose of the Women's march was to send a very loud message to the new administration. The message being that we the American people will not be divided. That we will not stand for a man spewing hate. We will not stand for "alternative facts" and we will not stand for our rights being threatened.

The march quickly became one of the biggest protests in history. There was a protest in every single state and several countries. The march had a larger turn out than the inauguration. This means something.

As a white woman, I have a privilege that so many do not. I marched for all the women that are not as fortunate as myself. I marched for every single person that the Trump administration poses a threat to.

This Presidency is a threat to the American people and there has never been a more important time to stand up and fight. For a lot of us, this was our first public form of activism, but I can guarantee it will not be the last. There's a lot of work to be done, but if we continue on this path of resistance -- we will succeed in making a change.
